"Market Review", continuation...

Another point of view I wanted to blog this time is the simplicity of combinations of another Trend, Exotic.

This Trend compiles furnishings, textiles and accessories from far away lands. It's a mix of Asia and Africa with a modern twist. I saw lots of traditional design styles going very simple and modern.

I highlighted 3 items which can easily be applied if you wish to achieve this look. First, there is the oversize square Ottoman with a wonderful embroidery fabric accented by large tassels @ the corners. Second is a rectangular pillow with Lattice pattern scrolls across a pure white linen. Third, is a traditional Wing Back Chair with ample curves and very comfortable style.

It's like the old mixed with the new!

"Furniture Show Review"

Second Trend is Vintage!

My personal favorite design style has always been Traditional and also French Country. At this market, I was so happy to see strong colors being utilized in such an exquisite way. This Vintage Trend is a combination of styles I mention earlier. The marriage of traditional Oriental or English wood furniture with vintage textiles and colorful accessories is just fabulous!

Lots of items were hand painted in a beautiful Paisley finished, as you can see the tray and ball on stand. There was also a beautiful Bombay Chest with same Paisley finished which will be available @ the shop in few weeks.

Just so elegant and simple!

"Furniture Show Review"

It's very nice to be back to sunny Florida!

The furniture market at High Point, North Carolina was very nice. It's important for me to visit in order to rebut my brain with new ideas. I was able to spot few Trends, which I will post and talk about.

The first Trend is Modernist. Based in the color grey, with tones of whites and creams and a splash of a very strong orange. Less but important accessories, such as monogram or embroidery pillows were used in all Trends designs. (interesting!) The comfortable Orange Chair is a Rocker, love it!

"Logging Off"

I will be logging off for about one week!
Will be going to The Furniture Market in High Point, North Carolina. This year is very special because the market turns 100 years old. The market offers us a diversified and ample highlights of what's new in the complex furniture industry. One of the reasons I love traveling to this particular market is the old architecture and charm of the buildings. Of course, there are many cool modern structures. Its like a crash of the old and the new. Another reason to go in October is the weather in the Carolinas is the beautiful @ this time of the year.

Leaving you with a picture of the Jupiter Beach, in my sunny Florida!

"Modern-Shabby"

I adore this Living Room for its freshness and modernism!
Would call it a modern-shabby space because the items are from different periods but what makes the room flow is the color and style. The white sofa is a combination of traditional but arms are boxy. The side chair is very modern with its brush metal leg frame. The introduction of soft Floral-Romantic textiles for the window treatments and cushions add a sophisticated shabby look. And to top it all, the area rug seems to be the focal point to the space.
The design trick here is repetition. The same apple green fabric used to re-upholster the round ottoman or stool was used for a single cushion on sofa and to recover lampshade!
Good Day!

"Fashion Trend Color"

"I love the color grey because it really never goes out of fashion. It's a neutral, which blends with just about any color".
Love to have the pretty ruffle blouse, with a nice pair of jeans & an animal print belt, may be...
Love to have the stunning and tall grey lace up boots, (will make me look much taller)...
Love the pretty patented leather bag with the straps...
Dress well and feel good!

"Be Bold"

Sometimes I love using very strong colors such as in this image. The turquoise tones of the wallpaper are accented by the shades of the small chandelier. Shades can be hand painted if they are very plain, such as in this example. A chandelier can also be carefully painted and from a outdated brass light fixture, it may turn out a stunning new piece.

Have a great new week!
