"Going Turquoise"...

Love this images with key pieces in the turquoise tones which can make any design stand out from the ordinary.  Mixing the beautiful blue takes courage but if we use white as the off set contrasting color, there is no problem!  Whether we have furniture, lamp or even a lampshade it looks sharp...

"Glass Urns"...

Glass urns are so much in style now days...The transparency is perfect for any type of filler you wish to do.  In this case, using faux pears gives a casual but elegant look.  The filler can be from fruits to shells...

"A Small Bathroom"...

This small bathroom is so beautiful and traditional.  It sort of reminds me of being on a train ride, being restricted by space but the luxury makes it just perfect.  Love the wood tones and specially the basket under the sink.  I cannot think of a space that is not wasted.  The mix of the old and the modern with the stainless sink bowl is a great design idea and also continuing with the same look, don't forget the plumbing under the sink...it matches.

"Teacups"...

Can you help me decide which fabric pattern to choose for the new Dress My Shade "teacups" collections.  I love the black and white vintage but also adore the retro style of the colorful one.

"A Modern Affair"...

Love these images of a modern small bathroom after its remodel...The glass subway tiles are so small but we still see the horizontal lines floating gracefully from side to side. Now, the entire wall space can be covered by tile or we can leave one wall painted or with wallpaper.  Updating the cabinets is a must, undermount or bowl sinks are a plus and to finalized a nice unusual flooring is necessary...look at this pebble tiles, they have such much Zen...

"Adding Artwork"...

This master bedroom was finished but client came back asking for more little details...The request is to add artwork above headboard.  Sometimes projects are finished according to customers ideas and you think you are done but there's more to add.  It's refreshing to continue to add decorative items and continue with the theme/design idea and scale.  The prints are small 14 inches wide by about 22 long.  They are dry grasses, which add such an organic feel to this Elegant-Shabby room!  {more to come}

"A Little Corner"...

A little corner of a room should always be dedicated as the Zen space...a space for reading a good book, relaxing or taking an afternoon nap.  The pea green color of the walls provide a calming sensation and elegance at the same time...sweet dreams!

"Something About White"...

There's something about white that translate into a Casual/Eelegant Design every time I see it.  It takes guts to pull this type of design idea because all the elements have to be very defined.  From lamps to furniture to window dressing, is just a breath of fresh air!

"Pillow Talk"...

Love this idea because it's different and it looks good...photo pillows.  A simple heavy duty canvas {Cream} is essential.  Need transfer paper and the photo.  Image may have to be blown up a bit but that's up to us to decide.  This project is easy and can be completed on a weekend!

"A Collector's Story"...

A collectors story may be full of interest because our attraction for unique items goes beyond our imagination.  Good proof is this small collection of shaving brushes...from old to new, they are fun to watch from the window!!!

"Brown Glamour"...

Brown is a color which many customers are afraid off.  They think of it as dirty and old fashioned.  Most of the comments I always hear are, it reminds me of the 1970's...Well, get into the groove and check out the new glamorous brown in this image.  Mixed with cream tones, a large abstract spiderweb rug sets the tone for design.  Don't forget the modern chandelier, which shimmers and sets the tone and lighting in this space.  By the way, this concept of color and coordination can be achieved with just about any colors...pick your favorite and re-invent.

Happy Monday!

"Pillow Talk"...envelopes

How fast the days are moving...it's Friday again.  The term envelope pillow is quite old, reminds me of the 80's when these were sort of introduced in pastel colors.  Now days, they can look as cute and tailored than ever in beautiful fabric prints.  The icing on the cake when making these pillows is the button that seals the envelope.  It must be larger and within the scale of the pillow.  The fabric or materials for pillows can also be mixed.  You can have a solid body and the envelope flap be a print.  Let the imagination run!

"Yellow & Gray"...

Kimura is the designer of this beautiful wallpaper by Arte.  The colors are vivid but at the same time very smooth.  The detailed pattern is uncomplicated and stands out with elegance.  Love to mix it with modern pieces, so that it stands out more!

"Top Priorities for 2012"...organization

Monday already...oh woo.
Having a conversation with my sis, we ended up naming our top priorities {so we try} for this year and closet organization came on top.  Custom closets although are perfect, cost a bundle and now days I rather use the funds for traveling or something else.  On the other hand, doing it yourself might be the way to go.
Many of our local hardware stores carry these type of materials, ready to be install.  The most important step is the measure.  Take for instance these kid's closets and get ideas!

Happy Monday!

"Pillow Talk"...

First Pillow Talk Friday...I wanted to look for something unique and this doily pillow looks expensive when in reality is home made.  The trick is to find an antique and interesting piece and simply glue to face of fabric with non toxic glue.  Sew up all ends, leaving a narrow opening at bottom of pillow.  Insert filler and hand saw bottom and voila!  So, a new look for a shabby chic to a classic one.

"Accesory Trend for 2012"...

Wow, it's amazing the way fashion and home furnishing business are affiliated by one little bird, owls.  This creature {not very pretty} will appear in so many trends, from a hat to pillows and home accessories.  At market, there was a set of own, see no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil that were adorable.  They were made in different colors, from white ceramic into a mix of colors.  I know they look spooky, but give them a chance...they are conversational!

Happy Thursday!
