"Places"...Vail's Mountain Life

I have been able to travel to Vail, Colorado on a ski trip. Not being able to post is all right, but I miss it.

This place is out of this world. Mountain Life is a daily routine that is contageous. You are up, have breakfast and go ski all day. You get home, get clean up and out to dinner-bar.

1. First image is a run called Born Free, which takes you right down to the bottom of the Gondola at Lions Head.

2. Image of the Vail Village, I can honestly say it is like being in Europe. The architecture of the buildings is very close replica of a little town in Germany or Switzerland. Streets are full of cobblestones and boulders are packed with snow. It's another World...

Be back next week with more images of Vail's architecture, home design and fashion...

"Pillow Talk"...Silhouettes

Another Friday and I always like to post some new stuff.
I was stunned when I found this pillow on Etsy. The company is called Pillow Pallooza. All of their pillows are hand made with an Eco Felt fabric made from 100% recycle plastic bottles. This is such a good example of using a textile like felt and turn it into a classic design.
What caught my eye from the beginning was the image or silhouette of the chandelier...
Any questions about Pillow Pallooza, just go to Etsy.com or leave a comment.
happy friday...

"Jars"...color trends

These are some of the Jars and small Vases I fell in love with at the Gift Market. Tozai, has been so consistent when it comes to a traditional design and the ability to keep a trendy color. I'm thinking of converting some of these into lamps. I will bet they will be charming...
Have a great Day!

"Fabric Project"...

Here is a fun Fabric Project to do on a weekend...
These are fabric remnants or samples that have been framed. What I like about this eye catching art display is the combination of patterns. To top it off, all frames are not the same size and they are hanging in a very uniform style. What ties together this design is that all frames are in one color, black.
This Fabric Project can be also accomplished if you have for example pretty cloth napkins, old cushions, a vintage dress...you name it.
Be creative and recycle!
Happy wed...

"Outdoor Lighting"...

Outdoor Lighting is an essential necessity to our homes. Whichever your design style, there are many choices of outdoor lights for different applications and spaces.
Image shows a small narrow space in which we were able to place a rectangular table with 8 chairs. The type of lighting used is a traditional 3 arm lantern. Natural elements such as brick can be seen on floors and on baseboards. Yellow is the color of the house, so it was brought to this area too. Its a very French Country style that is simple and elegant!

Here are some outdoor light samples:

1. Lights for Posts.
2. Lights for Wood Fences or Verandas.
3. Wall mounted Decorative Light.

Happy Tuesday to all...

"Dressing A Table and Chairs"...

Most of the time when we purchase new furniture, it may come upholstered with a standard solid fabric.
I was though that it would be easier to sell a sofa if covered in a neutral pattern! Well, that might be true from a marketing point.
I feel safe ordering these chairs with a solid fabric cushion and a small welt in a contrasting color. Then, we can add pretty chair tassel tie backs. Now we have accomplished a simple way of Dressing our Chairs...Also, see table topper with an additional ribbon fringe.

"Pillow Talk"...mixing textiles

Finally Friday...on Pillow Talk I wanted to touch the point of mixing different textiles in a very tasteful style.
Image shows a strange combination but it actually works! We have a solid colored sofa and we need a punch of color, why not use a large traditional print pillow with an elegant chenille fringe. Break the pattern with a couple of stripe pillows that coordinate with the colors you already have. Then, throw an animal print cushion that has an odd shape. We are done...
Happy Friday!

"A Brick Wall"...

If you happen to have a Brick Wall in your house or apartment, you're very lucky! Such a rustic architectural element has a tremendous elegance and style. The attached image shows a brick wall in a more modern-industrial space. The mix of furnishings, an antique Italian Console, an old carved Tree Trunk as a side table and a natural Wicker Chair seals the deal...
I found out there are products out in the market called Veneer stone, which is a thin layer of brick very light and easy to apply.
Have a Great Day!

When it comes to designing lampshades for Dress My Shade, there isn't a set rule for style. The idea behind the company is to make household accessories that are fun and whimsical.

"Lighting Color Trends"...

This two images are from a lighting show I visited recently. What caught my eye about this lamp and chandelier is the color. It's not red or orange, it's like a watermelon color. The design of the chandelier is so intriguing and beautiful. It's pure art...

"Pillow Talk", stack them up...

It's Friday and on Pillow Talk.
Just wanted to share with you another way to display pillows or in this case pillow shams.
I just love the pyramid effect and softness of these 3 layers. This is a very simple and clean look, keeping in mind what's behind it! Busy-Busy but beautiful wallpaper.
The coordinating upholstered headboard is so pretty and romantic. The thick jumbo welt makes the green of the leaves pop out, breaking the design a bit. This bed invites you for a long sleep...the trick is the way the pillows are stacked...

Dress up your Bed...

Happy Friday!

"Color Trends"...emerald green

Choosing color is far more complicated then we think! This is true when it comes to selecting a wall color. Some old traditional colors are coming back like Emerald Green. It's a strong, clean, refreshing and an elegant statement adaptable for many design styles.

Attached image shows a traditional room, with lots of wall moldings. By painting this architectural wall the space is more defined and serene than if we were using lots of artwork...sometimes less is better!

This is a good example to show the old mixed with the new. Emerald Green is one of the color Trends that will make a strong impact in 2010!

"An Old Frame"...

An old and over sized picture frame can be turned into a savvy CD cabinet...A shadow box was built, sanded and painted. To separate the cd's, thin wooden dowels are glue into a predrilled hole running vertically and horizontally. Take this project into a different direction and add your favorite fabric to the back or even wallpaper. The idea is here, use your imagination...

"An Organic Office Space"...inspiration

Happy New Year to all...
After few days without blogging, I am so anxious to begin a new year with fresh ideas. I will start by showing you all a stunning organic office space. This is the Architectural offices of Selgas-Cano in Spain. This forest office emerges like a snake into the woods. I am positive this action opens the minds of these talented professionals. Their visual impact of the environment is really the best inspiration for design!
I love it...
