Sometimes elegance and simpleness ties together like sugar and salt. I love the idea of an antique silver tray and decorate it with simple greens, some magnolia tea lights and decorative ornaments.
Lime Green or Apple Green is one of my favorite all time colors. It's fascinating tones may change a bit due to fashion trends but original base is here to stay. This eclectic-shabby room is a mix of contemporary pieces, some antiques and traditional furnishings. Notice the way the space was decorated for the holidays. Two real potted pine trees were place by the fireplace and decorated very simple. A couple of yards of green silk was tucked into chair and an accent pillow was placed in front. Holiday decorations were placed on coffee table and even inside modern glass lamp. Very simple details makes this space so inviting...
Just another way to Dress a Chair...this unique way of decorating your dining room chairs is very simple, inexpensive and elegant. Using items you already have in your household, such as place mats or large napkins right on top of chair. Tide a nice 2 or 3 inch ribbon to hold cloth. the trick is the color combination and what helps define the occasion is the x-mas ornament.
Holiday Decorating is a lot of fun in my opinion. We can get our imagination going and use lots of existing items in our houses. I love the idea of a decorating for the holidays using a continuation of the same colors you currently have. See above, mixed aqua or spa blue with silver or gold holiday trimmings! It's an elegant shabby look...
Well, look at the item I found. This is a round pillow with a peppermint design, wrapped in tule just like the candy...I just thought it was something sweet to finish the week.
This year, my favorite holiday inspiration to decorate around my house are simple green apples. For the longest time, I have had these two topiary and I did not wanted to just put them away at all. A bit lazy from my part! I purchase two small but tall clay pots and took a gift wrapping paper and decoupage them. This was such a fun project, I definitely do it again. Now, I just purchase more apples @ the local craft store and took gold ribbon made a bow and tucked in left over. Pick up fresh pine cones from my backyard and placed them here and there, and voila!!!
This is "Pisces", our new ceramic lamp shown under the nautical collection @ Dress My Shade. We love the mixed turquoise-blue tones and at the top of jar, there are carved details of fishes. The creamy silk shade is accented with a 2" Jute real shell trim. It's very shabby! This lamp retails for $195.00. Need more information, just click on link for DMS.
I had to dress up lamp with a x-mas bow because of the holidays!!!
It's hard to find gifts for some people, specially for kids. Now days, video games and other electronics have replaced good old activities like reading. But, I have discovered this book and believe me kids will love it. The name of this book is Diary of a Wimpy Kid, by author and cartoon illustrator Jeff Kinney. This book series came out in 2007, and pretty much every six months, a new chapter comes out. It has become a phenomenon among kids from ages 7 to 12. The Diary is a chapter book, which narrates the story of a six grader by the name of Greg Heffley and his adventures. My favorite is the do it yourself diary.
Well today is finally Friday and on Pillow Talk I wanted to take advantage of the holiday season and show you this image. What a way to dress up your chaise or chair and a half than with these cute pillows with fringes. I love the floral patterns mixed with the different size checks. I specially like the red and white theme. During the holidays, we can introduce colors which may not be part of your design idea @ all. It is small little accents like these, that are so easy to do.
These pillows extend an invitation to sit down and relax!
I am very excited about the new mini lampshades project that began back in September of this year. The idea came by just combining colors and textures to create a very shabby and whimsical high end shade. This shades will look fantastic in a child's room!
Any inquiries, just click on Dress My Shade link and thanks for the business!
I adore decorating spaces, specially with vintage furnishings and textiles. You don't have to change your decor to traditional red and green. In this image, the original design was kept but new complementary holiday Christmas items were added. A pink and white garland was wrapped around a home made tree. Simple boxes were wrapped with pinks and cream papers and shabby ribbons. Use old pendents or silk flowers to give it that chic look. Adorn table with x-mas ornaments that sort of matches with the decor.
I have so much information about the last furniture market finds! Last month went by and I only got a chance to chat about some upcoming trends. I was not surprise to see acrylic furniture and accent pieces being introduced again but in a different style. My favorite chair has a timeless style and gorgeous acrylic legs. They called the Fantasia Chair! The back is curved and holds you very comfortably. The fabric on chair is this tamed lime green with nail heads done to perfection.
Indeed my favorite chair...see more tomorrow!

Hello, my name is Maria Ross and I enjoy creativity and everything that involves Interior Design, Fashion and Architecture.
Fabrics and Trims have been part of my daily work for a long time, because of that matter I thought of using materials in a different application (Lampshades).
Out of College I worked in the Fashion Industry then was introduced to an English Designer from whom I learned about textiles, wallpaper, furniture and design.
