"Spring Fashion"...straw hats are back

I really can't wait for Spring!  Living here in Palm Beach, Florida we have the advantage of sporting this cute straw hats almost all year long.  In the famous runway shows, the straw hat is a garment that defines the outfit...sort of like decorating around an item.  These hats are well proportioned and come in different colors and weaving.  Whether from Mochino or LaCoste, they are chic and fashionable and also timeless.

This just gives me the idea of small little straw hats for lampshades, hum?

Black and White has always being one of my favorite colors.  Which ever decorating style is chosen, good design is all about mixing and getting results like the one in this image.  Love the antique Sofa with all its curves.  Love the Modern art work, mounted in Lucite frames.  Also love the tall floor lamps and no coffee table...simply european-eclectic

 Mailbox Landscape         

I am looking forward to the Spring Season...just around the corner from us here in Florida, its time to start thinking about new landscaping.  I found these images in books and I thought the idea is great and very adaptable.  While reading some articles, its interesting to learn how to plan by style, size and color...just like in interior design.  It's hard work but the results are lovely...

"Gina's Project"...color trends

Forgot to blog yesterday!  Shame on me...Oh well, I am working on a bedroom makeover.  This is Gina's inspiration board.  She was looking for sophistication, glamour and likes the color silver.  The room is very small but we will be able to fit a queen size bed with storage underneath because {a necessity} and one shiny nightstand, a dresser, small chair and lots of glitter.  We are also contemplating a mirror nightstand instead of the silver leaf one.  A gray shaggy rug from Surya will give a whimsical soft look.  Against one large wall I will place a very large star mirror.  This will be the focal point of the room {50 inches in diameter}, definitely an art piece.  Colors will be soft greys mixed with turquoises.  Loving the animal print on the sample, lets see if approved.  A built in bookshelf-dressing table will be custom made, so Gina can have a make up corner. Will show images of finished project when completed.

"Going Grey"...trends

The color Grey was the new trends in last winter's furniture market and it looks to stay for a while.  It's amazing that now I have clients asking for this color.  Normally, clients would say its a boring or too depressing.  But, the new pallet is sophisticated and beautiful.  I grabbed these images to show you some rooms in a house that was completely done using Grey.  My favorite being the formal dining room and the bedroom.  The details and textures are combined with touches of orange and reds.  Lets face it grey is the new way to go!

"New Art"...

Just adore this new framed print called "Mi Casa Es Su Casa"...my house is your house.  So appropriate for an entry way or kitchen area.  Our kitchen is being remodel now and I think of getting one...it will look sweet!

"A Small Old Bathroom"...

Remodeling a bathroom and keeping the style similar to the original is not a challenge.  Now days, we can get a hold of classic black and white subway tiles as well as lighting style which will blend with period.  I love these images because its a small space but the design is done very simple and clean.  Love the soft blues on the walls, mixed with a creamy leaf green.  Shower curtain is custom made as well as window treatment.  It all ties together just beautiful!

"Kitchen Design"...timeless white

White is one of the most easy and elegant colors to work with.  In any design style, wether modern to traditional white can transform a room and make it look more ample.  I fell in love with this image because of the mix of materials.  Dark Brazilian wood floors, carrara marble, stainless steel appliances, cool modern and comfortable bar stools.  There's plenty of spot lights and the black and white silk drum chandeliers {I wonder where they come from?} are the topping of the cake.
