"Pillow Talk"...highpoint market trends

So nice to be able to write on this blog a bit more!  Highpoint Market offered lots of ideas and color trends.  The most important element is that transitional look or design style is the latest according to designers and manufacturing companies.  For a few weeks, I will post pillows that scream beauty and fun.  Above is the perfect example of small accent pillows.  The first one to the right has a stamped bird or painted look.  Birds were seen everywhere, on upholstery to framed prints.  The color palette is soft but very appealing to buyers.  I can tell the quality and workmanship of all of the above!

"Today"...

For the last two days it's been non stop raining here in our little part of the world.  Feels like, just want to be home reading a good book like the one in the image.  By the way, these wood floors are tiles!

"Designing For The Season"...

Autumn is one of my favorite seasons of the year...and so are these colors.  I love everything about this room, from the chocolate brown small print ottoman to the club chair with its large floral pattern.  The color palette is a warm blue/turquoise that is so trendy.  Introducing the large horizontal stripes on the drapes, helps balance all of the textiles.  A natural sea grass area rug, anchors the room and makes it come alive!

"Folk Art Pumpkin"...

I thought this simple way of decorating a pumpkin was just adorable.  A flair of Folk Art, without any carving {no mess} and the doilies are easy to find.  Any local supermarket or craft store has these paper coaster, it just needs to be cut and glue to pumpkin.  Doilies can be painted in black to add more drama too!

"Pillow Talk"...buttons

These custom made Linen pillows are so cute.  The idea is to hand sew each mother of pearl button and extend the threat from one button to the other, creating a basket weave pattern.  The color scheme can be change as well as the materials...

"Fall Colors For Lampshades"...

The weather is changing a bit here in south Florida...It makes me get inspired for these color tones.  A warm orange/amber lamp with a stunning cotton stripe pattern and embellished by an expensive new trim coming up soon for Dress My Shade. Indeed, colors for the season.

"Before and After"...

There are simple solutions when it comes to redesigning a room.  Many times we may end up buying new furniture or re-upholstering classic pieces such as the slip on chairs with a coral pattern.  The first step would be to paint the entire room and that way the architectural features will pop out.  Instead of a window seat, a wall to wall storage unit was built, allowing more room for storage.  Round tables always look better in a room than any other size, specially when it comes to a sitting area.  Throw a zebra rug and recycle some tables, new accessories in the fireplace and voila!

"Pillow Talk"...message

Every Friday {whenever possible}, I like to write a little segment about pillows and how to utilize fabrics and other textiles in a new way.  I also enjoy seeing how creative we can be by playing with colors and styles.  These cute pillows, I love because they send a message.  They are constructed of an elegant soft silk and the focal point obviously is the monogram silk ribbon w/message.

"MBR Neutrals"...

I adore master bedrooms that are designed with neutral colors...basically I love this one done almost all in white.  The clean lines of the black furniture brings out all the layers of textiles on the bed and window treatments.  I really don't mind at all sleeping here.  Also, love the sitting area by the foot of the bed.  Why not utilized the space and make it into a conversation area. In this space, it works!

Happy middle of the week...

"The New Brown"...cappuchino paint color

If you have white or shabby furniture like in image and want a change of scenery, why not paint the master bedroom with a new tone of brown.  Brown paint gives an elegant look and an organic feel to the space.  Too dark looks very strong and may hide architectural features, like this tray ceiling.  By introducing a warm and creamy touch of brown on the walls, there is the possibility of introducing your favorite accent colors.  Keep it simple!
