"Pillow Talk"...mixing shapes

Mixing textures and shapes is essential when it comes to designing bedding for example. Just wanted to share a simple way to dress up a bed with different pillow shapes. In front of the pillow shams, a layer of cushions were applied. We have two nice custom neck roll pillows or bolsters with a nice shirred end caps. Ends are finished with a big upholstered button that coordinates with plaid square pillows. To complete project, a round pillow with a large tulip pattern is place in front.

It's the attention to details what matters!

Happy Friday...

"A Cozy Space"...in pink

A cozy space I admire is the fresh and elegant design by Geoffrey Bradfield. I pretty much love everything about this room, from the diamond cut carpet to the modern mix media hanging on the wall. My favorite is the way he applied a quilted floral pattern to the sofa and ottomans. Also, what a great idea of using two separate ottomans! It makes sense because they can be moved...

Gorgeous Space!

"Pillow Talk"...make a statement

Lots of time, it's safer to purchase furniture in a solid color. This may apply to those of us, who like to change things around constantly. This chair is a good example of making a statement with a simple but elegant pillow. I say it's Wow!
Great week-end to all.

"The Titanic Project"...

Sometimes I give projects a name. When I enter the space for the first time, that's how it hits me!!!
Anyway, this was a small job but I never say no. The house is located in the Gulf Course of PGA
Nat. here in Florida. This house will eventually be the homeowners retirement home. A few details were missing but the reason for my assistance was the odd front windows.
I immediately fell in love with the 70's Porthole Front Door. The problem was the lack of space to do a window curtain, which was the client's specifications.
After deciding for a color scheme (Black-n-White) a polished nickle hardware was chosen and installed from the wall to a stopping point of the side windows. The panels were sewn seamless, and corners were cut in angles. We double sided the fabric to give it a finished look inside-out. Nickle rings were hand sewn every 12 inches. Panels were dressed up with one pleat in and one pleat out, kind of a ripple fold effect. Tie Backs finished the clean look...
I will look for more images of house. The bar was built like a replica of a boat. It's really neat.

Happy Thursday to all.

"Old Photos"...project

How cute and unique is this project!

If you are trying to displayed old photos in a different way, here is an idea.

1. Use silver trays in different sizes and style
2. find an old silver mirror with a handle and apply same process as above.
3. Plates are another item which can be use for this project and at the same time you recycling!
4. Make sure to use a non toxic glue or acid free.

Have fun...

"Loving Burl Wood"...

Loving this image with a wonderful coat chair and a series of picture frames lined up like soldiers. One thing I didn't know about burl wood is that its main characteristic is the way it looks. All the imperfections are due to growing in a deform manner. The deformity shows up in all the nuts or bark malignancy. I think is one of the most beautiful and valuable woods in the world...
Just a little lesson!

"Drapery Panels"...embelishment

Even though the fabric on this gorgeous pinched pleated drapery panels is busy, adding an embellishment such as a fringe is the best choice. This coordinating trim was hand picked to unite all the colors of the embroidery on the textile. The colors are very refreshing and trendy. There are 3 layers in this custom window treatment:
1. Lining
2. Interlining
3. Decorative Fabric

Happy Monday!

"Pretty Rugs"...for girls

I just fell in love with this pretty area rug, perfect for a little girls room or teenager!
This piece would be the inspirational theme. I would try to use a fabric with a lady bug pattern, lots of plaids, stripes, checks and Denim...What do you think?

"Before and After"...of a lampshade

Just wanted to share a Before and After image of a simple Beach Style-Cottage lamp that will be available @ Dress My Shade. The simple addition of an expensive natural Jute trim with real shells sometimes is the solution to the problem. Lamps are perfect for a Guest Room. I'm thinking of sitting a little friend...
We have (2) of this cuties available @ Dress My Shade for $195.00 retail.
Great Wednesday to all!

"Italian Ceramics"...so classic

During my trip to Vail, I was able to visit a piece of Italy. Sabbia Talenti is a very small shop with the most beautiful Italian ceramics I have seen in a while. They carry large plates reflecting the four seasons, that will look stunning in a French Style Kitchen. What really caught my eye was a Deruta-Raffaellesco pattern on the second image. I have espresso cups with that dragon pattern, but 3 broke. Now I can replace them!

The large Amore plate is perfect for Valentine...

"Pillow Talk"...buttons

Yet, another Friday goes by...and this time on Pillow Talk, I though of blogging about a simple subject "buttons". The idea behind this pillow is to create something pretty and stylish with a limited amount of materials. This is the perfect little project to do if you know how to sew. Lately, I love using wood buttons on pillows because they give such a different dimension to the textiles. Wood buttons come in a large variation of sizes and woods. From hickory to coconut, I consider them beautiful and very organic...

Here are some cute samples of buttons made of coconut shells!
HAPPY FRIDAY...

"I am in love"...with

I completely fell in love with this image. The reason is the wallpaper, with the humming birds flying like ballerinas. The soft blue spa background of flowers and leaves make this image so beautiful & peaceful. I also like the way an antique garden chair is shown, with all the wear and tear...it's a pure Vintage style.
Happy Jueves!

"New Collection"...vintage style inspiration

I wanted to share with you all the new Veranda Lamp Vintage Collection for children...a new soft vintage style inspired by a doll. To be more exact, a Madame B Alexander cutie. The fabric is 100% cotton, very soft to the touch. The French Gimp and Trims we selected come in a very soft Chenille in white or champagne tones. I decided to mix textiles by introducing a Lavender Gingham, which can also be replaced by a soft green, pink or light blue.
The Veranda Lamp and Shades are available on Etsy, my Internet store. If you wish to order here is the link:

"Displaying A Collection"...vases

Do we ever look around our home for stuff...sometimes we may accidentally have a small collection hidden away without even knowing it. This image is a good example of mixing shapes, colors and antiquities. Love the old Burl wood radio, the map with its heavy carved frame and the collection of odd vases ties the style together. Combining dark furnishings with vintage is tricky but with collective items, sure will make a statement!

Happy Tuesday!

"Mountain's LifeStyle"...Vail's Architecture

It's good to be back!

Here's a bit of images from Vail Village in Colorado. I love the mix of craft man style and traditional architecture. The integration of the local stones, large timbers and hand forged
iron work, gives the town a true rustic-elegant style. On the last image, the entry way of a bar; you can see the chunkiness of the pyramid columns and how it's supported by the gracefully carved heavy wood planks.

1. Entrance to a small Hotel or Inn.

2. A small bridge from main street.

3. The strait lines of a balcony.

4. Entry to a Bar...very important

Great Monday to you all...
